A former agricultural co-op in central Nebraska required targeted treatment of benzene-contaminated groundwater at monitoring well MW-1, where concentrations reached 7,544 µg/L against a site-specific treatment target of 6,970 µg/L. Precise injection coverage around a single well focus area was required to achieve site closure.
BAM (Bioavailable Absorbent Media) was injected through 11 DPT locations totaling 1,100 gallons of treatment solution. A vacuum truck was deployed during injection to remove highly contaminated groundwater and maintain hydraulic control within the treatment zone.
Benzene concentrations in MW-1 were reduced from 7,544 µg/L to non-detect, representing 100% reduction and exceeding the site-specific treatment target—providing a clear pathway to regulatory site closure.
