The environmental remediation industry has long faced a critical gap: no single provider could offer a truly comprehensive, technology-agnostic platform capable of addressing the full complexity of modern contamination challenges. That gap is now being addressed with the official launch of VIYA Environmental (“VIYA”).

A New Chapter in Environmental Remediation

VIYA is a new kind of pollution remediation company — one built from the ground up to solve what others cannot. As one of the first providers to offer a fully integrated suite of thermal, chemical, and biological solutions, VIYA is designed to permanently eliminate Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), including per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and chlorinated solvents, from polluted soil, groundwater, and wastewater.

VIYA’s platform enables custom solutions that accelerate remediation timelines, reduce overall project costs, and provide effective treatment of even the most complex contaminants — including PFAS, the pervasive group of so-called “forever chemicals” at the center of a $200+ billion cleanup challenge in the United States alone.

The Alliance Behind VIYA

VIYA is the result of a strategic alliance between two industry pioneers: McMillan-McGee Corporation (“Mc²”) and ORIN Technologies (“ORIN”). Mc² has built a decades-long reputation as a leader in In Situ Thermal Remediation (ISTR), while ORIN has established itself as a specialist in chemical and biological remediation approaches.

Together, they bring a collective portfolio of more than 17 issued patents globally, deep field experience, and a shared commitment to delivering outcomes — not just activity — at contaminated sites.

“VIYA is more than just a new brand; it’s a commitment to forging a better path forward for our planet,” said Brent Winder, President of VIYA. “By bringing together best-in-class thermal, chemical, and biological technologies of Mc² and ORIN, we can offer the environmental remediation industry a comprehensive and sophisticated solution that meets their unique needs.”

A Comprehensive Technology Platform

What sets VIYA apart is not any single technology, but the ability to deploy solutions individually, in sequence, or in combination — adapting to site-specific conditions rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all approach.

This flexibility is critical in an industry where contamination profiles are rarely simple and regulatory pressure continues to intensify. VIYA’s integrated platform is designed to address high cleanup costs, prolonged remediation timelines, and growing demands from regulators and site owners alike.

“Tackling a contamination problem of this scale and complexity, especially one involving difficult-to-destroy chemicals like PFAS, demands more than conventional approaches,” said Larry Kinsman, Chief Commercial and Technology Officer of VIYA. “It requires innovative, multi-faceted thinking — drawing on the most advanced thermal, chemical, and biological science — that VIYA is uniquely positioned to deliver, ensuring we don’t just move the contamination, but truly destroy it.”

Leadership Built for the Challenge

VIYA’s executive team draws directly from the leadership of both legacy companies. Brent Winder, formerly COO of Mc², serves as President. Larry Kinsman, formerly CEO of ORIN, serves as Chief Commercial and Technology Officer and joins VIYA’s Board of Directors alongside Bruce McGee, Co-Founder and former CEO of Mc².

Backed by Purpose-Driven Investment

VIYA is a portfolio company of GEF Capital Partners, a Washington, D.C.-based private equity firm focused on high-growth businesses tackling climate change and pollution mitigation.

“VIYA represents the core of GEF Capital’s investment thesis: scaling proven, innovative technologies that aim to directly address critical global pollution challenges,” said Catherine Lien, Principal at GEF Capital Partners and a board member of VIYA. “This strategic alliance under the VIYA banner is the next chapter in their story, enabling the new company to offer optimized, multi-faceted solutions that we believe can deliver measurable impact for our planet and strong returns for our investors.”
